History
The Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School provides students with an environment that emphasizes the strength and structure of a rigorous academic program. The school was founded by a group of community leaders in Worcester dedicated to enhancing school choice in public education. The school was named after Abby Kelley Foster, a nineteenth century Worcester resident who was a leader in the abolitionist and women's rights movements. Abby Kelley Foster opened in 1998 with Grades K-5 in a renovated mill building. The middle and high school program is located in the adjacent building. Because of the school's ongoing success the Board of Education voted unanimously to renew the school's 5 year charter on February 25, 2003.
