WATCH D.O.G.S.

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) Watchdogs_logo.jpg

is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering. Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school. During the day, Watch D.O.G.S. may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. If you are interested in spending a day volunteering at Abby Kelley, please contact the guidance department at (508)854-8400 x3647.

Elementary School PTO

The Abby Kelley Foster Elementary PTO (a 501 (c )(3)) is comprised of parents, teachers and administrators from the Elementary School working together to enrich the educational excellence Abby Kelley provides. The PTO has an Executive Board (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) who are elected each year in the spring to service a one-year term. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Elementary School Library. (Child care is provided.)

To sustain the PTO budget we run annual fundraising events. Our largest and most successful of which is the Yankee Candle Fundraiser, where Abby Kelley receives 40 percent of all sales. We also partner with local restaurants throughout the year where a portion of sales from a given date and time are then donated to the PTO.

Programs supported annually by the PTO include:

Abby’s Attic  (A gently used uniform sale held in August and January each year)

Cultural Night (Fall)

Father/Daughter Dance (Spring)

Mother/Son Event (Spring)

Spree Day (A day of fun for everyone in the Elementary School  held in June)

Teacher Appreciation Week (Spring)

There are many other events that take place throughout the year and ideas are always welcome! We encourage you to contact the PTO to get involved. Contact us at espto@akfcs.org and follow our Facebook Page; Abby Kelley Foster Elementary School PTO

We look forward to getting to know you and your family!

What is the AKFCS Elementary PTO?

The PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is a nonprofit group comprised of parents, teachers, and staff dedicated to improving the educational experience of all students at Abby Kelley Foster Charter Elementary School. Our goals are to encourage interaction between family and school, serve as a source of support, and work with teachers, staff, and the community at large to improve our children’s educational experience. The PTO works closely with the school administration to meet this goal.

Who can be a part of PTO?

Any parent or guardian of a current student as well as all current faculty and staff. There is no commitment of time or resources.

What are the benefits of participation?

First it gives you a voice! You may desire to volunteer to help with our any of our events throughout the year. Volunteering is encouraged but NOT required. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to meet other parents, and be more involved in your child’s education.

When and Where are the PTO Meetings?
We meet the first Tuesday of every month at 6 PM in the Elementary School Library.

Subcommittee meetings for specific events are announced as needed on the Facebook page or via email.
