About

Our Middle School encompasses grade 5-8. Although a middle school widens a student’s horizons, our curriculum and discipline is still based on the formation of Character Education which is an essential part of the school mission. The middle school bases its practices of teaming and instruction around the understanding and needs of adolescent learners.

As the students mature and grow so do their opportunities here at Abby Kelley Middle School. Our 5th grade classrooms start introducing the students to a middle school model by transitioning them between a team of two teachers. During this year, students will learn how to organize themselves in preparation for the rest of the middle school years. Once the students reach 6th grade, they transition to different teachers as well as have the opportunity to participate in student council. Upon reaching 7th grade and 8th grade, students experience a larger course load and can try out for specific sports such as cross country and basketball.

All grades at AKF Middle School have the opportunity to participate in our music program through band, strings or chorus and our many after school clubs as well as our yearly musical production.
