Abby Kelley Foster Charter School is excited to announce the promotion of Jessica Dolbec, Seventh Grade ELA Teacher and Team Leader, to the position of Middle School Academic Assistant Principal. We are thrilled that Mrs. Dolbec will be transitioning into this new leadership role. With over seventeen years of experience as a faculty member at AKFCS, she is well-equipped to continue providing academic support for our middle school students. Mrs. Dolbec will work closely with both faculty and families to help our students achieve academic success. Below, you can read Mrs. Dolbec’s introductory remarks to the AKFCS community.
I am pleased to formally introduce myself as the Abby Kelley Foster Charter Middle School Academic Assistant Principal. Since my teaching journey started back in 2008 as an AKF English Language Arts teacher, I have been committed to our students’ success and carrying out our school’s mission. I earned my Master’s degree in Education from Worcester State University in 2015. In 2023, I pursued a path in educational leadership by beginning the Performance Assessment for Leaders and interning with our Middle School Administration team. This experience has secured my ambitions for school leadership.
Additionally, over the past 14 years, I have served as a team leader. I was lucky enough to mentor new staff and support my colleagues through collaboration and consistent communication. This past school year, I took on the role of ELA Content Lead, where I worked closely with colleagues developing our school’s vision to increase student achievement and character formation. In 2018, I founded the Middle School Student Leadership Group, which has helped to cultivate student voice and strengthen our school culture, whether it be through supporting our community with a food/clothing drive, or reinforcing PBIS initiatives with our Bear Paw Shop.
Abby Kelley has been my professional home for 17 years, and I am anxious and excited to grow within our school. As I take on the role of Academic Assistant Principal I will strive to align our curriculum with best practices and support students and staff.
On a personal note, I enjoy going to the beach, reading, and surrounding myself with friends and family who lift my spirits and encourage me in all of my endeavors. I am a life-long Red Sox fan and enjoy my spring and summer watching my daughters play softball. If I am not at work, or have my nose in a good book, I am most likely cheering them on at the softball field!
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with the AKF community!
Respectfully,
Jessica Dolbec
AKF Middle School Academic Assistant Principal
