Our Middle School encompasses grades 4-7. Although a middle school widens a student’s horizons, our curriculum and discipline is still based on the formation of Character Education which is an essential part of the school mission. The middle school bases its practices of teaming and instruction around the understanding and needs of adolescent learners.
As the students mature and grow so do their opportunities here at Abby Kelley Middle School. In Grade 4, students begin changing classes between 2 teachers as they acclimate to the middle school routines and expectations. Our 5th and 6th-grade classrooms continue supporting students on small teams, providing the structure and relationship building that is so important during these years. During their time at the middle school, students will learn how to organize themselves in preparation for the rest of the middle school years. Once the students reach 7th grade, they transition to several different teachers. Upon reaching 7th grade, students experience a larger course load as they begin their preparations for moving on from middle school.
All grades at AKF Middle School have the opportunity to participate in our music program through band, strings or chorus, and our many after-school clubs as well as our yearly musical production. We also offer interscholastic sports teams for students in grades 5-7.
