We are excited to bring back Nature’s Classroom as part of the AKFCS middle school experience for the ’23-24 school year. For those that are not familiar with Nature’s Classroom, it is an environmental education program located in Charlton, Massachusetts. (https://www.naturesclassroom.org/). This an outdoor experiential learning opportunity to build community and to incorporate the experiences from the classroom into a fun, exciting adventure that the students will remember for the rest of their lives.
Although not mandatory, it is our hope that all students presented with this opportunity will participate. There will be more information coming in the next few weeks. However, I wanted to provide you with as much notice as possible as the cost may be a factor.
Grade 6 students will be attending the overnight program for 4 days/3 nights. We will be there from Tuesday, November 14 – Friday, November 17. The cost per student is $314, which is all inclusive for lodging, food, and activities.
Grade 7 students will be attending the one-day program on Monday, October 30, 2023, which will be longer than a typical school day with students arriving back to Abby Kelley late afternoon/early evening. Exact times will be shared when more information is distributed. The cost for the one day program is $96.00 per student, all inclusive of food and activities.
Abby Kelley staff will be chaperoning the trip-both for the overnight program and the one-day program. I will be scheduling a Nature’s Classroom Information Night for both 6th and 7th grade families in August (zoom and in person). Look for that date soon.
The first payment/deposit will be due on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 to secure your student’s spot. 6th grade students must pay $100 for deposit; 7th grade students must pay $50 for deposit. Which could be paid in online or by Cash/Check and brought to the Middle School Main Office.
