The IT department is responsible of providing IT support and ensure that our district technology is up to date and our school community is well equipped to effectively integrate technology into our operations and our educational practices.

Over all the IT department manages the school district’s technology infrastructure including computers, chromebooks, printers, AV equipment, projectors, phones, and Labs. Creates opportunities for innovation and provides support, documentation and training to give our faculty, staff and students the tools, skills and experience they need to work in today’s technological world.

Powerschool Cybersecurity Breach

1-to-1 Program

Abby Kelley Charter Schools understands that when used properly, technology can help students understand concepts better and learn new skills. It also allows them to engage with content in creative ways and take control of their learning. By regularly incorporating technology into our classrooms, we ensure that students develop the skills they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

Here’s what’s available to students this year:

  • Kindergarten: 1 touchscreen Chromebook for every student. Devices stay in the classroom.
  • Grades 1–3: 1 Chromebook per student. Devices stay in the classroom but may occasionally go home for specific activities.
  • Grades 4–7: 1 Chromebook per student. Devices are assigned and stay in the classroom, though older students may begin taking them home as needed.
  • Grades 8–12: 1 Chromebook per student. Devices are assigned and used both at school and home.

Providing every student with a device helps us:

  • Ensure technology is always available in the classroom.
  • Offer equal access to technology both at school and home.
  • Simplify managing and troubleshooting devices.

With the 1-to-1 program, there’s no need to reserve labs or carts. Devices can be easily integrated into lessons and are ready to use whenever they’re needed.

In addition to our 1-to-1 device program, we offer a variety of additional technology resources.

For students in grades K–7, we provide extra iPads, tablets, and touchscreen devices to support specialized classes, including Special Education, Music, Engineering, and Computer Science. These tools are selected to enhance learning experiences and accommodate diverse learning styles.

For our high school students, we offer access to a Mac Lab, designed for advanced coursework in music production and computer science. This facility allows students to work with industry-standard software and hardware, giving them hands-on experience in these fields and preparing them for future academic and professional opportunities.

PowerSchool Parent Portal: Your Gateway to Student Information

We use PowerSchool Parent Portal to provide families with easy access to important information about their students, including attendance, grades, report cards, and more. PowerSchool is also where you can update contact details and health information to ensure the school has the most current data.

For Returning Families

If you are a returning family, you can continue using the same username and password you’ve used in previous years to log into your PowerSchool account. All your information will be carried over, making it simple to stay connected with your child’s academic progress.

For New Families

New families are required to sign up for PowerSchool within the first month of school. This is crucial to ensure that you receive all necessary information regarding your child, including report cards and important school communications. To create an account, you’ll need an Access ID, which will be provided at the beginning of the school year. This Access ID is used to link your account to your child’s information. Please share this Access ID only with trusted family members who need access.

How to Access PowerSchool

PowerSchool Parent Portal can be accessed via any web browser, such as Chrome or Firefox, by visiting the AKFCS PowerSchool Portal site. For your convenience, there’s also a quick link button at the top of every page on the AKFCS website. Additionally, PowerSchool is available as a mobile app for both Android and iOS devices. When using the app, you’ll need to enter our district code: TZWT.

Multiple guardians can be linked to a student’s account, allowing both parents or guardians to stay informed about their child’s academic progress.

By using PowerSchool, we ensure that all families have the tools they need to be active participants in their child’s education. If you have any questions or need assistance with setting up your account, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our school office for support.

Understanding Clever: Your Child’s Digital Learning Hub

Clever is an essential platform that our district uses to simplify and enhance your child’s digital learning experience. It’s a secure, single sign-on system that allows students to access all their educational tools and resources in one place with just one login. Whether they’re at school or home, Clever provides a seamless way for students to engage with their learning.

What Can Parents and Students See in Clever?

When your child logs into Clever, they’ll find a personalized dashboard with direct access to the tools and resources they need for their classes. The three primary tools you’ll see on the Clever dashboard are:

  1. iReady: iReady is an interactive online learning program used by our district to support your child’s math and reading development. Through Clever, students can access their iReady lessons, complete assessments, and track their progress over time. It’s a key resource for personalized learning, helping your child strengthen their skills at their own pace.

  2. Google Workspace: Google Workspace is a suite of tools that your child uses daily for learning and collaboration. This includes Google Classroom, where students receive and submit assignments, access class materials, and communicate with their teachers. Through Clever, students can easily access their Google Drive, Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, and more—all essential for their coursework. Google Workspace is the backbone of your child’s digital classroom experience.

  3. Teacher Pages: Within Clever, each teacher has a dedicated page where they post important resources, links, and information specific to their class. These pages are personalized by the teacher to include shortcuts to educational websites, class materials, announcements, and other tools that support their teaching. Teacher Pages serve as a one-stop-shop for students to find everything they need for that particular class, making it easy for them to stay organized and focused.

How to Access Clever

Students in grades K-7 will receive a Clever Badge during the first week of school. (Student email and password is also available once you login with your Clever Badge). This Badge is a simple and secure way for younger students to log into Clever.com without needing to remember a username and password. The same Badge can be used at home, ensuring that your child has continuous access to their learning tools, whether they’re in the classroom or doing homework.

Clever is designed to make learning more accessible and organized for both students and parents. By centralizing all of your child’s educational tools, Clever ensures that they have everything they need to succeed at their fingertips.

  1. To login, go to Clever
  2. Click on “Clever Badge Login”
  3. Use your device camera and present your badge to automatically login

If you do not have a a camera on your device you may click Log in with Google. Use your email and password to access the same tools.

If you do not remember your password, click on “get help logging in” to reset your password or ask your teacher for help.

Google Workspace for Students

Our district is committed to providing students with the tools they need to succeed in today’s digital world. As part of this commitment, all students have access to Google Workspace, which includes essential tools like Gmail, Google Classroom, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and more. These tools are integral to our learning environment, allowing students to collaborate, create, and communicate effectively.

Student Accounts

Each student is provided with a district-managed Google account. This account is used to log in to their district Chromebooks, access their Google Classroom, and utilize all other Google Workspace tools. Their login credentials typically consist of their first name followed by their last name, along with our domain name, forming an email address such as [email protected].

K-7 Students accounts details, can be found during their clever first login, when students access their Google Classroom App.

High School students manage their own passwords.

Google Classroom

Google Classroom is the primary platform many of our teachers use to communicate with students, distribute assignments, and provide feedback. Through Google Classroom, students can easily access their coursework, submit assignments, and engage in class discussions, all within a secure online environment.

Logging In

Students in grades K-7 will use Clever QR Codes to log in to their district Chromebooks. These QR Codes, which will be provided by their teachers on the first day of school, make it easy for young students to access their accounts quickly and securely.

The same QR Code can also be used to log in from other devices at home, ensuring a seamless learning experience across different environments. Student in 4-7 Grade will have an additional PIN as a security measure.

For older students and those who prefer manual login, their Google Workspace accounts can be accessed from any device by entering their username and password. This flexibility allows students to continue their learning from home, the library, or any other location with internet access. Google username and password can be used after student logs in to Clever page and click in the Google Classroom App.

By utilizing Google Workspace, we ensure that all students have access to powerful tools that enhance their learning experience, both in the classroom and beyond.
